Passion is everything. Following your passion is the key to overcoming the setbacks and building your career. If you’re not passionate about your ideas, nobody else will be. Not only men, women as well can make a difference in the world. It’s not about the gender, but about the passion you have in succeeding your life and exploring what’s in front of you. Technology is still a male dominated arena. However we can observe that women have begun to make a significant impact in the technology industry.
According to the Forbes Magazine, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg has been named the most powerful woman in technology on the 2016 Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women list, and with an overall ranking of number seven. Before she joined Facebook, she was Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google and was involved in launching Google’s philanthropic arm, Google.org. She is not only a billionaire executive, but also a great philanthropist.
The second place in the list of most powerful women in technology was taken by Chief Executive Officer of YouTube, Susan Wojcicki with an overall ranking as number eight. Wojcicki, was also named to Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2015 and was described as the most powerful woman on the internet. She became Google’s first marketing manager in 1999 and made her way up to become senior vice president of Advertising & Commerce at Google while leading the 
advertising and analytic products including AdWords, AdSense, and Google Analytics.
The third place in the tech list goes to Meg Whitman. She has achieved an overall ranking of number nine in the Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women list. She is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, as well as the Chairwoman of HP Inc. Previously Whitman has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of eBay, from 1998 to 2008.
At present, role models have stepped forward to represent women in technology, which is a very good sign. They have demonstrated that women can be a driving force for innovation and ideas in technology. Though reports show that only a quarter of the technology related jobs are held by women, we should appreciate their effort in trying to make a difference on behalf of all the women in t
he world.
Nobody can just wake up in the morning and claim that they have succeeded in life. Nobody is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. It takes time and proper guidance to reach your ultimate potential. Not all the great stories of success are sweet as sugar. Most of the inspiring stories are hard as ice. Hard work and sleepless nights are significant amidst their not so sweet stories. Every successful entrepreneur, executive and leader has dedicated so many things in their lives to overcome career challenges and reach success.
Don’t be afraid to dream big. Believe in yourself and in what you are doing. Be passionate in what you do and what you believe. Surround yourself with people who care about you and support you but are willing to tell you the truth no matter how hard it is. You may come across so many hurdles. Stay strong and conquer them.
