Do it with passion
Our editorial team asked me to write a blog, but I was stuck with end-semester assignments and project works. And, nothing came into mind to write in this difficult time, so I sat and thought about something which I can tell my fellow rotaractors and uni friends about, and also something valuable which gives a lesson to our lives.
So, now I'm going to start the story and this is about something I'm very passionate about and there are a lot of arguments about this topic inside our board of directors and some general members these days🤣
It was the summer (July, August) in 2009 and I was a little boy who was fascinated by the skills and hairstyles of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham, and then this happened. The dream transfer of my favourite club😍 Huge names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso were included in that dream transfer which shocked the whole football world. It is still called the "transfer of the century”. In that transfer, there was a boy; the main man of this story was a 21-year-old boy called Karim Benzema who played for the city called Lyon in France. And he was added to Real Madrid with other superstars of the game.
In the first season with the royal white jersey, he faced some difficulties because it took him some time to adapt to the new experience and he was criticized by the media because of his poor performance. So, he had to work hard to win the trust of the coach and the team and also to book a place in the starting lineup. After a bad start, he worked continuously and supported his teammates and the team to win trophies. But he always kept a low profile in the team, and also people have not appreciated him enough for his service at the club. But this humble footballer gave his best to the club and supported his teammates like Cristiano Ronaldo to achieve so many achievements in his career.
Later he became one of the main members of the legendary trio called “BBC” (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) which dominated European football by winning 4 Champions League trophies for the club. Unfortunately, this trio broke up after Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus F.C. in 2018. But this trio will never be forgotten because of their achievements.
After Cristiano left, Benzema became the backbone of the club and scored so many goals for the club, and his country until now. But he was never appreciated properly by the football world until 2021 due to some reasons.
But now his current form is unbelievable and he’s the top scorer all across Europe. Now he has become one of the top contenders for the award called “Balon d’Or” which is awarded to the best player of the world in a calendar year. He’s competing with superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski for this trophy.
So, what I want to say from this story is that after years of being a team man and a background character, now he’s receiving the appreciation and the recognition he deserves from the football world. I don’t know whether he will win this or not, but as a fan, I’m so proud of him. And, guys... we have a few more days left to argue about this inside the BoD!😏😂
So, the moral of the story is, as Rotaractors and university undergraduates, sometimes we fail, we become depressed, we make mistakes, be criticized and get rejected. But never ever stop doing your thing no matter hard it is.
If you want something in life, do it with passion, and someday you will be happy about yourself. And don’t forget to applaud others’ achievements, until your turn comes.
