Everyday Heroes

Have you ever wanted to be a hero?  To save lives like Batman, Superman or Flash that you see in movies or TV? Even without superpowers or fancy weaponry, there are countless people in the world whom you might just glance over what save lives of others on a daily basis and have earned the title “Hero”.

“A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy’s shoulders to let him know that the world hadn’t ended.”

– Batman , The Dark Knight Rises

There are even heroes that save countless lives due to their occupation, but are soon forgotten by the minds of the common mass. A fire fighter, who risks his own safety to quell fires and to save people whose lives are threatened by it or a life guard, whose job is to save those who are drowning in water from peril, can easily be called an everyday hero. Even though everybody’s favourite hero, the doctor is someone who is usually remembered, do not forget the nurses and other supporters that help doctors in accomplishing their task.

The title of every hero is not only limited to these few individuals. There are still heroes out there in society who either directly or indirectly help to save the lives of many people. By protecting someone’s life in an emergency or by giving a helping hand for the needy or even by being a worthy role model, these silent heroes strive to make the lives of others better in multitude ways.  They might seem like any other person to a passerby, but to those whom these people lent their hand to, they are the rays of sunshine that bring light and warmth to their lives.

Each and every one of us has the potential of becoming a hero. What is important is the drive to help others even though it may lead you through a thorny path, and which will make you all give a hand to the needy or make your body moves to help save the lives of those who are in danger. Thus no matter the difficulty or insignificance of the task, take action for the betterment of the lives of others and become a true “Everyday Hero”.
