Face Your Interview With Confidence- The Exemplar - Are You Ready? -2017

The Exemplar-2017”, the fourth session of ‘Are You Ready? 2017’ was successfully held in the evening of 26th October giving a clear idea for our undergraduates how to face an interview with better confidence and impress the employer at their very first interview. The session started with the arrival of the guests and respecting the tradition  oil lamp was lighted by distinguished guests. The gathering was welcomed by the Co-Chairperson of “The Exemplar” Rtr. Tharani Karunarathne.

The first speech was delivered by Ms. Rochelle Vandort, Manager in Employer Branding, Diversity & Inclusion for DIMO PLC, sharing her working experience at DIMO and mentioning what it is to work with the corporate world. She finished her speech requesting the audience to carefully choose where they want to work once they finish their degree. A token of appreciation was given to Ms. Rochelle Vandort by Dr.Ranga Rodrigo.

The main session of The Exemplar was conducted by Mr. Mahesh Jayasingha, Managing Director of Mpower Softskills (Pvt)Ltd, who have been the guest speaker for The Exemplar in last few years. With an example from Alice in Wonderland he started his session for the evening. The undergraduates were asked to fill a paper and based on their answers, he categorized the graduates into four groups. The qualities, strengths and weaknesses of each group was described and each group was advised how to overcome weaknesses and how to sharpen the strengths comprehensively.

As the next part of his session Mr. Jayasinghe exposed the audience to four mock interviews conducted by him and gave a chance to the audience to decide whom they are going to hire out of those four interviewees. The skills, values and traits one should harness were discussed throughout the session. The audience was highly inspired by his excellent and interactive session to explore their skills enthusiastically. The main session ended with few inspirational quotes by the speaker. A token was presented to the speaker by Rtr. Chiranthana Costa as an appreciation for his presence.  

The end of “The Exemplar” was marked by the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Co-Chairperson Rtr. Damitha Lenadora followed by the National Anthem.
