Haunting Memories: A Night with Isadora at Monster Mash 3.0
Monster Mash 3.0 was an unforgettable Halloween night, a true spooktacular hosted by Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa. As one of the Co-Chairs, I was thrilled to help bring this eerie evening to life and take the event to a whole new level.
In the days leading up to October 9th, we stirred the cauldron of curiosity with short videos and creepy whispers about Isadora, a shadowy figure whose story blurred the lines between legend and reality. The students couldn’t stop guessing: Who was she? What did she want? And when her ghostly form finally appeared at the Sentra, hauntingly graceful and cloaked in mystery, everyone’s curiosity turned into spine-tingling excitement.
The event began at 6 p.m. in the Old Gym, a space our decorations team, led by the wickedly creative Rtr. Dinura, transformed into a chilling, otherworldly realm. Flickering candles cast dancing shadows, and the air buzzed with whispers of things unseen.
As the crowd gathered, a hush fell. From the darkness, Isadora emerged, and she was breathtaking and terrifying, gliding like a phantom across the room. All eyes followed her as she made her way to a stunning Halloween cake in the corner, its eerie decorations glowing faintly. This was no ordinary cake,it was her 21st birthday cake.
The story whispered that Isadora had died a tragic, untimely death, and this night, she had returned from the other side to celebrate the birthday she never got to enjoy. When she cut into the cake, it felt as though reality and fantasy had collided. That single moment marked the start of a hauntingly magical night we’ll never forget.
After the cake ceremony, the energy in the room shifted, and the real fun began. The night came alive with games like archery, darts, and face painting—each one bursting with Halloween spirit. Laughter and cheers echoed through the Old Gym as students competed to win spooky prizes, their playful excitement adding to the magic of the night.
The face-painting station was a fan favorite, turning people into ghouls, witches, and other eerie creatures that seemed straight out of a haunted fairytale. A photo booth nearby captured these spooky transformations, giving everyone a chance to take a piece of the night home as a memory.
Then came the highlight of the evening, the cosplay competition. Over 15 students took the stage, each one dressed to thrill.
Vampires, fairytale creatures, and even some unearthly beings graced the spotlight, their elaborate costumes and captivating performances leaving the audience spellbound. Every character seemed to pull us deeper into Halloween’s eerie embrace, and the crowd roared with applause after each act.
As the last cosplayer left the stage, the DJ turned up the haunting beats. The lights dimmed, shadows flickered, and the dance floor came alive. The music seemed to carry a hint of Isadora’s story, as though she was still with us, watching her legend unfold. We danced like spirits under the spell of the night, lost in the rhythm and the mystery.
By 10 p.m., the magic began to fade as we stepped out of the Old Gym. Yet, the enchantment lingered, wrapping around us like a ghostly whisper. Monster Mash 3.0 wasn’t just an event, it was a journey into Halloween’s haunting heart. We left with a promise to keep its spirit alive and a hope for more unforgettable stories in the future.
Monster Mash 3.0 was more than just an event; it was a dream brought to life by the relentless effort, passion, and dedication of everyone involved. As one of the co-chairs, I had the privilege of working alongside Rtr. Dinura, Rtr. Oshadha, and Rtr. Sakiru, and I couldn't be more grateful for their unwavering commitment. From brainstorming spooky ideas to transforming them into reality, they poured their hearts and souls into every detail, ensuring the night was nothing short of magical.
But the success of this hauntingly beautiful night wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible team that stood behind us. Each member worked tirelessly, even amidst their busy schedules, juggling lectures, projects, and countless responsibilities to make this event unforgettable. Their determination, creativity, and willingness to go the extra mile were the true backbone of Monster Mash 3.0.
To each one of them, I extend my deepest gratitude. Thank you for believing in the vision and for turning it into a night that surpassed every expectation. The blood, sweat, and tears you poured into this project made it what it was, a spellbinding journey that will be cherished for years to come.
I am beyond proud to have been part of this team, and I look forward to creating more magic together in the future. Monster Mash 3.0 was a testament to what we can achieve when we come together, and I know this is just the beginning of even greater stories to come. Thank you for making the legend of Isadora, and this entire event a reality.
