“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

It is important to have modern techniques and technologies for teachers to teach their students so that they can achieve their utmost efficiency in teaching. Specially for subjects such as Science and Mathematics, this concern is very critical. However, due to the scarcity of resources, nobody can certify that all schools in Sri Lanka will get access to such technological updates. Within this world, there exists a huge gap between those who receive all necessary resources and those who do not. Thus, as a service rendered towards our motherland, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa pioneered ‘Intellect’ under the massive annual project Grama Prabodhaya 2019.

‘Intellect 2019’ was a Mathematics and Science seminar series organized with the participation of more than 80 students currently pursuing their studies in classes of grades between 9-11 at Dunupothagama Vidyalaya, Nochchiyagama. The program was held from the 12th to 27th of October for two consecutive weeks. The first week started off by introducing the purpose of the seminar series and subsequently the first Mathematics seminar was held. The day was spent with some discussions on Mathematical problems asked by the students as well as some fun activities such as games and quizzes.

In the second week, with some newly joined faces in the audience, the Science seminar series was held. With the huge number of explanations and examples provided by our Rotaractors, the students were able to gain a great deal of realization in certain areas of Physics, Chemistry and Biology where they had problems before. At the end of the session, a group photograph was taken with the students to make them happier.

After two eventful weeks, another chapter under Grama Prabodhaya marked its successful conclusion by inspiring a remote group of intellectual minds.
