UNSPOKEN (The Love That Exists in Silence)

May 07, 2025

Not all love stories are meant to be told.

Some exist in quiet corners of the heart, in glances that never turn into words, in the ache of knowing that love does not always mean belonging.

Love is supposed to be simple at least, that’s what we are told. If you love someone, you should be with them. If two people feel the same way, nothing should stand in their way.

But reality is not a fairytale, and love is not always about holding hands under moonlit skies. Sometimes, love is about stepping back, about choosing silence over confession, about watching the one you love walk a path you cannot follow.

What happens when love cannot exist in the world, only in the quiet spaces of our hearts?

When we love someone so deeply, yet the best thing we can do for them is to stay away? To pretend we don’t care, to mask our emotions in cold indifference, even when every fiber of our being longs for them?

There is a kind of love that asks for no recognition.

A love that exists in the stolen moments, in the silent prayers whispered for their happiness, in the quiet pride felt for their achievements. It is the love of watching from afar, of celebrating their victories without them ever knowing. It is loving someone so selflessly that their happiness matters more than your presence in their life.

And what of the love that is suffocated by circumstance?

By parents who disapprove, by cultures that dictate who we can and cannot love, by a world that does not bend to the will of the heart? There is an unbearable beauty in the pain of two souls who long for each other but know they can never be together. To walk past one another, pretending to be strangers, when in reality, they are everything to each other.

Is this not love in its purest form? A love that does not ask for proof, for validation, for promises of forever. A love that simply is; a quiet, unwavering presence that lingers even when everything else fades.

Have you ever loved someone in silence?

Have you ever smiled at their happiness, even when it broke you? Have you ever held onto memories, even as time pulled you further apart? If so, then you know,

Some love stories are never written, but that does not make them any less real. Some love stories never get an ending, but that does not mean they did not exist. And maybe, just maybe, the most beautiful love stories are the ones that remain unspoken.
