From School Uniforms to University Freedom
Waking up to the familiar sound of my mother’s voice, putting on my neatly ironed school uniform, enjoying the delicious homemade breakfast she had prepared, carrying my backpack, and heading to school… Even today, those simple days remain some of my most beautiful memories.
Life during those school days was beautifully simple. The morning assembly, the classroom, the sound of the bell, the interval, homework and lessons for the next day, we always knew more or less how our day would unfold. There were timetables to follow and rules to guide us, and our teachers were always there to remind us of what we needed to do.

Back then, all we could think about was the day when we would finally leave those rules and routines behind and experience the freedom we had always dreamed of.
But today, as a university student looking back at those days, I have started to understand that freedom does not mean being free from responsibilities.

The day we took off our school uniforms and walked through the university gates, we did not simply change our clothes. We stepped into a new world where we had to make our own decisions, learn from our mistakes, and find our own paths.
During my first few days at university, that freedom felt exciting. For the first time, nobody reminded us what to do next. Planning our own schedules, finding lecture halls, meeting new classmates, and deciding how to spend our time became part of everyday life. It was exciting, but it also meant learning to be responsible for our own choices.

University also gives us opportunities that go beyond lectures and examinations. By joining clubs, societies, projects, and other activities, we get the chance to work with people, share ideas, take responsibility, and sometimes step outside our comfort zones. These experiences teach us lessons that cannot always be learned inside a classroom.

But along with that freedom came something we hadn't fully expected - responsibility.
At school, someone was always there to remind us, “Bring your assignment tomorrow.” But at university, we have to remember these things on our own. Lectures, assignments, presentations, examinations, extracurricular activities, friends, family, and our personal lives all have to fit into the same twenty-four hours. Through this, we slowly learn how to manage our time.
Some days, it feels like twenty-four hours are not enough. We wish we had a few more hours in a day.
Before one deadline is over, another one is already approaching. Our to-do lists keep getting longer.

That is when we begin to realize that university does not teach us only through books and lectures. It also teaches us how to manage our time, understand our priorities, say yes to the things that matter, say no when we need to, and take a break at the right time. Because when we try to do everything at once, sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves.

University is not only a place where we learn new things. It is also a place where we begin to understand ourselves better and discover who we really are.
“Who am I?”
“What am I good at?”
“What do I want to learn?”
“What are my dreams?”
Little by little, we begin to find answers to questions like these, during this journey.

And one of the nicest parts of university life is the people we meet along the way.
People from different cities, different schools, different backgrounds, and with different dreams come together in one place. At first, they are strangers. But as the days pass, some of them become familiar faces and important parts of our everyday lives.
A moment of laughter during a lecture, telling stories in the canteen, working on an assignment with friends until late at night, or sharing a smile after a long and tiring event-these are the small moments that may one day become some of the most beautiful memories of our university life.

But this journey is not always easy.
There are days when we doubt ourselves. Sometimes, an assignment does not go as well as we hoped, or we do not get the result we expected in an exam. Sometimes, we see someone else doing better and start to feel as if we are not doing enough.
In moments like these, we learn an important lesson:
We should not compare our own journey with someone else’s.
At university, we may all begin at the same time, but our paths are different. Some people may find success quickly, while others may need more time to find their way. What matters is that we keep learning, keep moving forward, and keep trying to become a little better than we were yesterday.

Looking back, I realize we didn't leave everything behind when we left school. We carried with us the friendships, values, confidence, and dreams that first began in those classrooms.
Now, university gives us the chance to take those lessons with us and begin writing our own stories.
Sometimes, this journey can feel a little scary. We cannot always see where it will lead us. But maybe that uncertainty is also part of what makes it special.

The school uniform holds the memories of our childhood.
University freedom gives us the chance to shape our future.
So, during this journey, instead of trying to do everything perfectly, we should enjoy new experiences, learn from our mistakes, appreciate the people around us, and give ourselves time to understand who we really are.

Because, in the end, university is not only about getting a degree.
It is also a journey of discovering who we are.
Maybe, a few years from now, we will look back at these days and realize that some of our most beautiful memories were hidden in ordinary moments all along.
Until then,
Let’s continue writing our own stories.
